1. SCOPE & PURPOSE

 

This Newsletter aims to inform all ship-owners, operators and Masters of vessels about the issuance of Merchant Marine Circular MMC- 336 by the Panama Maritime Authority. This Marine Circular informs all interested parties about the amendments to the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC, 2006), particularly Regulations 2.5 concerning Repatriation and 4.2 concerning Shipowner’s Liability.

The amendments aim to strengthen the financial protection of seafarers in cases of abandonment and in situations involving death or disability resulting from occupational accidents, diseases, or hazards.
